IPhO is proud to partner with Pharmacy Initiative Leaders (PILs) to award IPhO 2020 Annual Meeting scholarships to two student pharmacists of color. The chosen students will receive complimentary meeting registration, courtesy of IPhO, as well as $500 from PILs to assist with any Midyear expenses. The first-place scholarship winner will also join the 2020-2021 PILs Coaches Program.

These scholarships support and empower the success of more pharmacists of color in the pharmaceutical industry.

As the 2019-20 fellowship year comes to a close, IPhO would like to recognize and thank its National Fellows Council leaders, who have dedicated time and attention to making the year's initiatives incredibly successful.

IPhO is excited to announce that its 2020 Annual Meeting will be taking place virtually. On September 11, 12, and 13, you'll be able to join in on one of the most important professional development events of the year from the comfort of home (or wherever you are)!

Because the event is virtual, we will be able to deliver significantly more content over three half-day sessions—featuring a variety of industry keynote speakers—with no space limitations. Plus, you'll save on travel and hotel expenses.

You will still have an opportunity to engage with industry experts, members of our National Fellows Council, and leading sponsor fellowship companies through interactive Q&A sessions.

IPhO is hosting two national live online seminars during the month of May entitled,

Developing an Industry CV to Optimize your Experiences for Employers. Join Jerry Silverman, Senior VP Professional Development and Coaching, for this complimentary opportunity to learn about the methods he has utilized to conduct over 400 one-one-one coaching sessions during the past 6 years. Each of two seminars will be 90 minutes to allow for ample Q and A. See registration infomation below.

The 2019-20 term has been incredibly productive and exciting for our IPhO National Student Officers (NSOs) and Regional Student Officers (RSOs). We want to take a moment to thank them for their numerous accomplishments. Notably, during their tenure, the number of IPhO student chapters grew to 85! Now in its 5th year, the annual VIP Case Competition has become a highly recognizable, signature IPhO program that provides participating chapters with an opportunity to develop a cohesive plan to bring a theoretical new molecular entity from ‘bench to bedside’.

Each and every year, chapter participation and submissions grow more competitive and knowledge of key industry functional areas for new product commercialization are critical for a competitive submission.

To support the continued success of this signature IPhO program, we are pleased to announce the launch of live online professional development seminars during April 2020, focusing on VIP Case Competition best practices from the 2019-20 award-winning chapters.

Congratulations to the winners of the 4th Annual Value of Industry Pharmacists (VIP) Case Competition. This year, 59 IPhO student chapters registered to participate in the competition—the most impressive turnout to-date!

The annual IPhO VIP Case Competition enables students to delve into multiple disciplines within the pharmaceutical industry as they develop their hypothetical drug, including, but not limited to: Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial Functions. Each phase of the drug's development lifecycle presents a unique challenge that encourages students to think strategically and apply both their clinical and pharmaceutical industry knowledge.

The second-annual IPhO Northeast Regional meeting was held at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) in late February. Nearly 70 students from across the northeast attended, with significant representation from Long Island University, University of Buffalo, and ACPHS.

Meeting attendees had the opportunity to network with a number of industry professionals, key opinion leaders, and current fellows, among others. Jerry Silverman, SVP, Professional Development and Coaching for IPhO, kicked off the day by exciting the audience about the convergence of driving forces resulting in significant opportunities for students to enter industry.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The application deadline for IPhO National and Regional Student Officer positions is March 15, 2020.

The 2019-20 IPhO Industry Fellowship Analysis has been published!

The report highlights key characteristics of all current fellowship programs—such as functional area, academic affiliation and alma mater of the fellow—and identifies emerging trends in PharmD Industry Fellowships based on 6-year longitudinal data.

There are 552 PharmDs currently participating in US-based, industry-focused postgraduate fellowships, representing +10% growth versus last year.
