IPhO is excited to announce its first official Instagram giveaway! We've developed a comprehensive online CV seminar, designed to help pharmacy students stand out to prospective industry employers. We're giving it away for free to three contest winners!

The rules are simple:

• Follow IPhO on Instagram (@industrypharmacistorg).
• View our feed and locate the "Learn from Home" Giveaway post.
• Like the post.
• Comment on the post and tag three friends who might benefit from entering the contest.

Now in its second year, the IPhO Annual Meeting was hosted virtually on September 11-13, 2020. Nearly 850 participants tuned in, including 600+ students from 111 schools of pharmacy, 150+ sponsor representatives, and 70+ faculty members. Attendance doubled from 2019—which was the first year that the meeting was held in person in New Jersey.

All meeting attendees gathered on Friday evening for an opening presentation featuring leaders in industry, who covered important topics such as navigating this uncertain time as a student preparing for an industry career; the importance of celebrating and encouraging diversity in industry; taking risks and having a courageous career; and more.

Congratulations to the recipients of the first-ever PILs + IPhO Scholarship. The chosen applicants are incredibly deserving of this unique award—they are strong and committed academics, passionate leaders, and visionaries. Each of them is dedicated to making a difference for communities of color, and they are playing an important role in ensuring that diversity is celebrated in the pharmaceutical industry.

The National Fellows Council (NFC) 3rd Annual Summer Kick-off Meeting took place on Saturday, August 15 and was a tremendous success! The theme of the day was “Stay the Course," which was a particularly relevant topic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While it was a fully virtual experience, there was no feeling of disconnect. Both speakers and attendees were enthusiastic throughout the day, which made for a meaningful and memorable meeting. 38 fellows dialed in from all over the country, including New Jersey, New York, Texas, North Carolina, California, Georgia, Massachusetts, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

Pharmacy students, find your place at Lilly! This special webinar, presented by Lilly in partnership with IPhO, is designed to help you navigate your industry career journey.

You will have the opportunity to hear from three expert Lilly panelists—Richard Doug Lee, Executive Sales Representative; Jitesh Amin, Medical Science Liaison; and Brittany Mani, HCP Marketing—about how and why they began their industry journey in sales, which led to new opportunities at Lilly.

IPhO is pleased to announce five fellowship partnerships for 2020-21! For the programs listed below, IPhO is a full partner in both recruiting and program administration. Candidates were identified through the 5,000+ National Student Network with nearly 90 chapters, and all recruiting was successfully accomplished through the IPhO FellowMatch service.

These IPhO fellows will be leaders within the National Fellows Council, and they are involved with national IPhO leadership. The group got together for a "virtual meet and greet" earlier this summer and enjoyed a fun evening of networking!

IPhO is proud to partner with Pharmacy Initiative Leaders (PILs) to award IPhO 2020 Annual Meeting scholarships to two student pharmacists of color. The chosen students will receive complimentary meeting registration, courtesy of IPhO, as well as $500 from PILs to assist with any Midyear expenses. The first-place scholarship winner will also join the 2020-2021 PILs Coaches Program.

These scholarships support and empower the success of more pharmacists of color in the pharmaceutical industry.

IPhO is hosting two national live online seminars during the month of May entitled,

Developing an Industry CV to Optimize your Experiences for Employers. Join Jerry Silverman, Senior VP Professional Development and Coaching, for this complimentary opportunity to learn about the methods he has utilized to conduct over 400 one-one-one coaching sessions during the past 6 years. The 2019-20 term has been incredibly productive and exciting for our IPhO National Student Officers (NSOs) and Regional Student Officers (RSOs). We want to take a moment to thank them for their numerous accomplishments. Notably, during their tenure, the number of IPhO student chapters grew to 85! Now in its 5th year, the annual VIP Case Competition has become a highly recognizable, signature IPhO program that provides participating chapters with an opportunity to develop a cohesive plan to bring a theoretical new molecular entity from ‘bench to bedside’.

Each and every year, chapter participation and submissions grow more competitive and knowledge of key industry functional areas for new product commercialization are critical for a competitive submission.

To support the continued success of this signature IPhO program, we are pleased to announce the launch of live online professional development seminars during April 2020, focusing on VIP Case Competition best practices from the 2019-20 award-winning chapters.
